Sold under the nationally known Stayflats® and Stayflats Plus® brands, our mailing products are marketed throughout the United States in several ways, including packaging catalogs, distributors and also factory direct. Our custom packaging solutions are sold through a select group of distributors.
 
Job Description:
Calumet Carton is looking for a full time Print Manager to work in our plant. This person will report directly to the Plant Manager. The ideal candidate will be technically astute and hands on, capable of overseeing the day to day activities for a multi-shift packaging company, which operates both wide format flexo and sheet fed litho presses.
 
Summary of Responsibilities:
  • Schedules pressroom department personnel to ensure optimal staffing is utilized to meet customer commitments.
  • Maintains inventory of consumables and equipment parts for the department.
  • Acts as a technical resource for offset and flexographic printing, both internally to the organization as well as externally with direct customer interaction.
  • Provides training and coaching to direct reports while regularly assessing and evaluating their competency level to ensure they are capable of performing the position held.
  • Ensures direct reports fully understand duties, responsibilities, accountability and authority within their respective roles.
  • Interacts with the management team in the development of department production goals to ensure continuous improvement and optimization.
  • Responsible for maintaining equipment calibrations to ensure accurate color reproduction across equipment and sustained over time.
  • Actively promotes safe work practices throughout the organization, enforces company safety policies and participates in the company safety meetings.
  • Reviews department outputs and works to continuously improve processes in order to maintain department quality levels at or above customer expectations.
  • Conducts business with customers, employees, suppliers, vendors and the community in an ethical and professional manner.
 
Requirements:
  • Proficient with MS Office.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with AIB, ISO, SQF, G7; and ability to lead training initiatives in any of these areas preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience preferably with wide web flexo and sheet fed lithography, in a supervisor or management role.
  • Folding carton experience preferred.
  • Background in graphics/pre-press and Union experience preferred.
